WHAT TO BRING WITH YOU - YOUTH PROGRAM:

It can be difficult to decide what to pack for your time at Whale Camp. You must be selective about what you bring as space is limited in the dorms. We ask that you limit your luggage to one medium sized duffle bag, one sleeping bag stuff sack, and one day pack. DO NOT BRING A TRUNK. We have included a packing list to help guide you. When you are packing, it will be hot in the area that you live. Do not feel embarrassed by packing gloves, a hat and warm clothing along with your shorts and a swimsuit! You will need them!

The weather on the island can range from cold to hot, sometimes dipping as low as the 40's and at the peak of the summer as high as the low 90's. The best style of dress is layers, where sweaters or sweatshirts can be removed to expose tee shirts or long sleeved shirts. It will be windy and cold on the boating trips, so we ask that you bring thermal underwear as well as windproof/waterproof pants and jacket.

In the dorms, you will be sharing a room. The bunk beds have standard twin mattresses. We provide mattress covers and pillows. The dorms are fully insulated and heated for your comfort.

The packing list that follows has been revised based on years of experience. You will need all of the items on this list. This list is comprehensive, and you will not need much else. Please choose all of your items wisely and do not bring anything that you will miss if it gets lost of muddy. Please clearly mark all items with your name.

Please remember when you are packing to follow our recommended packing method for travel days, and remember to leave out all of your spending money and medications. This will make the travel days run smoothly.

If you have any questions about what to bring to camp, please do not hesitate to call us.
