Team Building / Low Ropes Instructor
We are seeking a few highly qualified individuals to mentor campers aged 10-17 at our residential science, nature, adventure camp. Daytime program includes sailing, kayaking, observation and study of whales, dolphins, porpoises, seals, puffins, eagles, tidal zones and the dynamic ecosystem in the mouth of the Bay of Fundy. Evening program is designed to foster self-esteem and group dynamics.
You will be responsible for co-planning and facilitating all evening programming on a wide variety of topics including sports, new games, campfires, and environmental science. Must have strong team building, group facilitation, and conflict resolution skills. In addition, job includes living with and supervising campers in a dorm and managing all aspects of dorm life. You will have free time most days from 10:30 am to 4:30 pm to explore the island while the campers are in the field. Requires: outdoor recreation background, strong leadership and organizational experience; ability to motivate others; willingness and ability to foster self-esteem, cooperation, and responsibility in campers; desire to live with and spend time with campers; creativity; patience; positive and innovative attitude; strong work ethic; flexibility; sense of humor; CPR/ First Aid. Minimum age 21. Environmental or marine science teaching background a plus. Room and board provided as well as a few whale / sail trips, puffin trips and kayaking excursions. Salary based on experience.
