Team Building /
Low Ropes Instructor
Primary Programmer and Student Supervisor from 4:45 pm to
8:30am
Meetings and Curriculum Development: 8:30 am to 10:30 am
·
Manage all aspects of dorm life: unpacking/ packing,
conflict resolution, homesickness, bedtime, phone calls
·
Keep dorms clean
·
Live with campers in dorm
·
Administer medications to the campers in your dorm that
need it at breakfast, dinner and before bedtime. Record this information in the
First Aid log book
·
Plan and facilitate evening programs: group sports, team
building games, new games, art activities, night hikes, environmental debates,
campfires…..
·
Plan and facilitate group initiatives and team building
exercises
·
Plan evening program schedule along with Program Director
and Logistics Coordinator
·
Assist with planning and facilitating orientation
activities at Swallowtail Lighthouse.
·
Structure the time that the campers are at home base i.e.
minimize the times that students can get into trouble or difficulties with each
other and minimize the times that students can get injured and the situations
that they can be injured in
·
Facilitate meals
·
Facilitate evening Option Time and organize signups at
dinner
·
Be a positive role model and mentor for campers
·
Communicate with parents as requested by Directors
·
Communicate with ESI’s, Directors and Coordinators on a
daily basis
·
Keep art supplies organized and filled
·
In charge of T-shirt sorting and distribution
·
Maintain personal first aid kit
·
Provide first aid as needed for injuries
·
Dispense camper money from the bank if necessary
·
Pick up and drop off mail – sell stamps to campers as
needed
·
Help with general camp maintenance and running of store as
needed
·
Participate in travel and transportation days
·
Assist with “big clean” days and “packing days”
·
Assist with getting camper laundry ready
·
Responsible for set up and break down of science center as
assigned
·
Complete one summer project to enhance the program.
Directors must approve this project.
·
Update the evening program notebook / curriculum along with
the other counselor.
·
Off time = Approximately 10:30 am to 4:30 pm four days a
week; Two 24 hour periods off during the summer. When not off during the day,
time is to be used for curriculum development.
·
Daily meeting from 8:30 – 9:00 am with Program Director
and Logistics Coordinator
·
Maintain and display a positive and encouraging attitude at
all times
·
No drugs allowed. Responsible alcohol use limited to
certain locations and times.
