STAFF:

Our staff is comprised of highly qualified professional educators and biologists who have extensive experience working with students of all ages. The staff at Whale Camp is recruited from college graduate and professional ranks. Two of the most important considerations in choosing staff members are the candidate's maturity and certifications in marine ecology/environmental education skills instruction. Occasional guest instructors include researchers from the Grand Manan Research Station and the New England Aquarium research team. Marine Biologist, Laurie Murison, who manages the Grand Manan Whale and Seabird Research Station conducts regular classes and activities on marine biology.

In order to maintain the quality of our staff and our program, we conduct an intensive training program for all of our staff every summer. We focus on safety, leadership, teaching techniques, team initiatives and the ecology of the island. All staff have current certifications in CPR and First Aid.
